Crawlspace repairs can range from mold, musty odors, and standing water, to structural issues that need to be addressed and resolved. At Gilbert and Son, we have been serving the Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, and Norfolk areas for over 50 years and we have the time-tested experience to provide your home with the solution that you need to resolve your homes crawl space problem no matter what it is. We will not try sell you on highly expensive systems that you probably don’t need, such as crawl space encapsulation. Our technicians are just that, highly trained technicians, NOT salespeople. We consider our job to resolve your crawl space issues in a long lasting if not permanent manner utilizing the most cost-effective measures available.
Crawl spaces can typically contain your homes plumbing, wiring, ductwork, HVAC system components and will provided access to these systems. Unfortunately, they can quickly become dirty and damp, if not outright wet with standing water, creating a perfect environment for mold, fungi, termites, and rot. Rotted support beams can be costly to either remediate and shore up or to replace if necessary. If notice that your floors are sagging this may likely be an issue. Whether it is or not the cause of your floors sagging must be identified and fixed. Mold, mildew, and fungi create their own problems that need to be resolved and remediated. Then you have the issue of possible pest infestations ranging from termites to even rodents. These issues can and will affect air quality within the crawlspace and extend this poor air quality into your living quarters.
Many of our competitors will want to sell you on an expensive (and usually unnecessary) crawlspace encapsulation system. Our first choice is to resolve your crawlspace moisture issues in the best possible way without resorting to any mechanical means (or the least necessary) thus saving you money and any possible future maintenance costs.
In a few cases, and only if necessary, we may install our patented N.A.S. system. We were awarded the utility patent for the process of negative air drawing in buildings with moisture, mold, and air quality issues and it is 100% maintenance free as well. We are the inventor, developer, manufacturer of proven industry equipment, procedures, moisture solutions, and air quality solutions, our patented N.A.S. Crawlspace system.

Gilbert and Son was the only company that was honest and told me I didn’t have a moisture problem. Pricing was much better than expected for the work performed. We had them install 33 tons of sand under our house because the builder did not back fill it like they should have. I figured I would have sand all over my yard and wife’s flowers, but that wasn’t the case. Super neat and clean install. Mike didn’t try and scare us into an encapsulation or work not needed like the other companies. Give these guys a call you won’t be disappointed.
I called because I had the smell of mold in my house and standing water in my crawl space. Gilbert and Son came out and did a free estimste. After I booked the job, they were on time professional, and cleaned up after themselves. The work and price was spot on. I highly recommend this company to anyone in need of mold or crawl space work.
My crawl space had a great deal of mold, so Gilbert & Son installed a great deal of sand to fill in low spots and put down a vapor barrier. They were terrific, and an added benefit was that a cough I had had for months cleared up shortly after that. (Apparently, I have a mold allergy.) All the work was done professionally, as promised.
